Explained Simply

Layer 2 solutions process transactions off the main blockchain (Layer 1) and then settle the results back on L1. This dramatically reduces fees and increases speed while inheriting the security of the underlying chain. Popular Ethereum L2s include Base, Arbitrum, and Optimism. They use 'rollup' technology to batch hundreds of transactions into a single L1 transaction, making crypto more accessible for everyday use.
