Bitcoin Units
Bitcoin has several denomination levels. The smallest unit is a satoshi (sat), which equals 0.00000001 BTC. There are 100 million satoshis in one Bitcoin. Other common units include millibitcoin (mBTC = 0.001 BTC) and microbitcoin (µBTC or "bits" = 0.000001 BTC).
Ethereum Units
Ethereum's smallest unit is wei, named after Wei Dai. There are 1018 wei in one ETH. The most commonly used sub-unit is gwei (109 wei), which is used for gas prices. When someone says gas is "30 gwei," they mean 0.00000003 ETH per gas unit.
